Living in Munich… by Sacha
I was always fascinated by travelling. Discovering new cultures, new behaviours or new gastronomy was always a pleasant occupation for me. Of course, when my school, the MBA Institute in Paris, offered me an opportunity to study abroad for half a year, I accepted without conditions.
Firstly, it was unbelievable. To quit my little world and go live in a country where I don t speak the language looked a bit unreasonable. But nothing could stop me : I was ready to go.
I have already been to Germany and to Munich in particular, but I never felt the soul of the city as strongly as I do now. I seem to understand people without words ; behaviours seem familiar to me, even if they are in the opposite of the French ones. For example, one of my friends here lost his bag in the U-bahn. And 3 days later, he received a letter from the person who found it in order to give the bag back to him. It was unbelievable! Back in Paris, nobody would even dream about this kind of behaviour. The streets are clean, bikes are not stolen, everything is cheaper… of course I enjoy living in Munich ! Many things you must visit at least once in your life are located in Munich or nearby. The Hofbrauhaus, the castle of Neuschwanstein or the Deutsche Museum are one of the most interesting things I ever saw.
I like the MBS a lot. I like all my teachers, all my courses… the atmosphere there is very nice. I like the German way of teaching. I don’t know exactly why it is different, by it is very agreeable. We had a lot of cases to present to the class, I really improved doing presentations. All students are friendly; we always compete against each other at the table soccer drinking a coffee in the cafeteria during breaks. In the EBS, we are a group of people coming from all around the world. We have Canadians, Latvians, Russians, Frenchs… American, Mexican, Columbian, Ukrainian, Belarus and even Georgian nationalities are also represented. All parts of the world meeting in a small class of a dozen students, it’s wonderful! You don’t have to do a trip around the world, just to come to our class! It is really a thing that a enjoyed very much. To each situation, we had many different solutions, according to the behaviour to each part of the world.
My experience here is not finished yet, but I can already say that is was really great ! I enjoyed each moment I passed here in Munich, and will try to come back as soon as possible. Thank you Munich Business School and MBA Institute for this part of my life, I will never forget!
