One Semester at San Francisco State University in California
Johanna, a Marketing major, spent the 2nd semester of her 3rd year studying abroad at San Francisco State University in California. She tells us about life in San Francisco, what she gained from her experience, and… the one thing she couldn’t find there !
On living in San Francisco
San Francisco is not that big, which is why it is so nice to be in. It is a city but you get used to it really easily.
And when you want to explore something different, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles are all a short trip away !
I lived off-campus : It took me 3 days to find the greatest place, house fully furnished and I was only 15 minutes from the school. Dorms where fun and good for meeting people but they were too small ; you had to share a room and it was too expensive.
The weather is temperate and always the same at 15 degrees ; sometimes it gets windy but it’s never too hot, never too cold.
On American classes…
It is way different : I had a class of 700 students, I had different levels of classes, and it is just a different way to study.
On what she gained from studying in SF…
I learned all about the American lifestyle and way to study. I met a lot of foreigners and learned their cultures and points of view about America and France and their respective countries, and that was really interesting.
On what she missed the most…
